Life can be difficult at times and we all experience times when we are on top of the wave or in the calm about to enter the wave.
Wherever you are counselling can be used to understand and explore your issues and develop a clearer pathway for you.
Here are a few self help tip.
First Aid Box
This week is get your self a 'First Aid Box' - this can be anything small bag, a shoe box... and put things that will help you get through difficult times in your life. When you have got your box, take whatever it is in and focus on the item. Fill yourself about the good thoughts that this brings into you. It is a visualization and nurturing the soul exercise. So find Candles, chocolate, pictures, Lego, dried flower, old toy whatever gives you that good and positive feeling again. If you have had your box for awhile replace items.
Mind Map
Basically put whatever this issue/goal is in the middle of a piece of paper and around that put the challenges, obstacles, thoughts around it. This can help you identify different your thoughts.
Find your inner calm
This can be difficult but by having a few deep breaths and focusing on them can bring calm into your life.
Looking a picture or smelling a rose, find out what allows calm to be restored in your day to day life and do it.
A great one which I use is a Grounding Method. plan your feet on the floor and work from the ground up to bring awareness into your body again. So people may wish to use simple breathing in and out too ground them again.
In times when you may find it difficult to relax. Bring your mind back down to a calm state. Grounding can be a great thing!!
Drink a glass of water. Simple but take that moment to use as a process of visualisation or a cleansing routine. Say a mantra ' this water is cleaning my body again making me feel good'.
Paint / draw / write your thoughts to help express yourself feelings.
